In response to the attack on the Maersk Alabama in 2009 Meridian.us was formed under the leadership of Jonathan McConnell to provide a cost-effective solution to combating piracy. Security teams, which consisted of US Marine Veterans, most of whom served with Jonathan, began serving onboard U.S. flagged vessels.
